... that today is the birthday of Louis Armstrong (1900)? Armstrong was the leading trumpeter and one of the most influential artists in jazz history. More than a great trumpeter, Armstrong was a bandleader, singer, soloist, film star, and comedian. Trivia fans: On New Year's Day, 1913, Louis Armstrong picked up a pistol in New Orleans and fired it. He was arrested, sent to reform school, and received his first training in music there from Captain Jones.
