PLAYERS TO KEEP AN EYE ON

The door is wide open for the Lions Tatum Bell. With Kevin Jones limited at practice, Bell comes into Week #1 as the Lions starting RB. The Lions made some nice additions on the offensive line and playing against the Raiders Warren Sapp and Kirk Morrison, the Lions will have every chance to show how good they can be running the ball.

Lets also watch rookie WR Jacoby Jones with the Texans this weekend. While Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter should officially start, Jones has all the skills to take over for Walter in a few weeks.

Randy Moss took a full practice on Wednesday but the team held him back on Thursday. As a result, Randy Moss was added to the Pats injury report as "Limited Participation in Practice," because of a "team decision.” Word from Boston is Moss was out on the practice field doing stretching exercises.

Key Take: Don’t give up on Moss if he gets off to a slow start this year. Even with Brady at QB, big-play offense takes time to gel. While the deep downfield throws may start out slow, keep your eye on possession receiver Wes Welker. He might just come away with 5+ receptions this weekend.

NEW NFL INJURY REPORT PROCESS – Houshmandzadeh
Bengals WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh missed practice again on Thursday. According to new NFL injury report regulations, the team need not classify TJ as doubtful, questionable or probable for Monday's game until Friday. Houshmandzadeh, a sudden addition to the Bengals injury report last night, has a knee injury and he wouldn't comment about it after Thursday's practice.

MORE NOTES
Sure the hometown Chargers are favored to beat up on the Bears this weekend, but don’t sell Chicago short. The Bears were 7-1 on road last year.

Adding to the mix, the Chargers made wholesale coaching changes this offseason and with Marty Schottenheimer and OCs Cam Cameron and Wade Phillips gone, NFL insiders know questions abound.

It’s no secret the Bears want to run the ball up the gut and they will go to plenty of two-TE sets, even without rookie TE Greg Olsen (questionable) in the lineup.

With weapons including Bernard Berrian and now Devin Hester, the Chargers will not be able to cheat against the run as much as some might think.

The Chicago Fantasy winners could be Cedric Benson and perhaps TE Desmond Clark especially if the Bears stud linemen Olin Kreutz holds his own over center in SD.
